A number of comments
mentioned the missing Team split times. We've contacted the
timers and we're happy to tell you that the Team times on Cool
Running now including splits! :>) |

That was a
lot of fun. Do they post the results online? I did average I think
but not bad for my first time. I thought it was very well organized.
The BEST part? My husband wants to do it next year with me! Woo hoo!
Deb, you are nuts to do the long course. Good for you! I'm sticking with
the sprint distance thank you! -

Hi, I much
enjoyed the race. I was part of a relay sprint team and was hoping
to get the splits that i saw were posted in previous years. Is that
information available? - Chris |
|
Great!
But a quick question. I was on a sprint relay team and I see only
the total time is posted. Will you be posting our splits as in past
years? Thank you for all your work. This was my first
triathlon and we had a blast! - Sue |
|
Sagor will
bring this up but just to reiterate the bike shops need to know that
they are able to help out cyclists in distress as neutral aid. The
person in one of the sag vehicles didn't know he could help someone
with a flat. -- Brian |

What a fantastic race. you and your team did a wonderful job putting
this event together. We raced as a relay team and could not find our
split times just the total time. Is there any chance you could send
us our times for the swim, bike, and run. We were team KEC.
Again thanks for a great day. Regards -
Eric |

Thanks for
a great day -- Twas much fun. Only thing I can think of in terms
of improvements is a rule I was unsure of that could be clearer
--- 3/4 way through the bike loop we all make a right hand turn
onto (don't know the name of the road) were coming off a slight
downhill and going pretty fast there is a double yellow line there
for a few meters -- that many people including myself were crossing
-- In talks afterwards I wasn't sure if that was legal? - John
(John's reply to my email)
No penalties to me -- It wasn't till conversations afterwards that
I had any idea it might be a rule -- particularly at that corner it
seems like swinging a bit wide is natural -- if the committee wants
something different perhaps a point of it needs to be made in the
pre-race announcements. John |

Thank you
so much, and great race yourself! This is my 3rd time doing the
race, and every time I love it more. This isn't so much a
suggestion as a comment, because I'm not sure I have a solution, but
here goes: I did the Intermediate race this year for the first time,
and I was in your (last) wave, and by the time I finished there was
like NO ONE cheering on Nash Road. The volunteers were great, but it
just seemed sort of sad to finish to an empty road. I went back to
cheer for friends who were behind me, and there were a fair number
of people still coming in, working really hard with no one but me
and the volunteers out there to see them. I guess I'm just used to
the sprint, when the finish is typically fully of cheering
spectators. I did Mass State a few weeks ago, and with both a
sprint and an Olympic there, somehow they manage to keep a lot of
spectators around the last ~200 yards as the Olympic folks come in
(I was in the last wave there, too). So I'm not sure if there's a
way to move food/festivities closer to the finish area or somehow
encourage people to stay there to bring people in, but it would be
the cherry on top of a great day. That is one long, lonely run with
athletes really spread out. Loved the cheering/music at the
bridge, the supportive volunteers throughout, and the note to
runners that it was "all downhill from here" (I laughed at loud at
that). Thanks again, Kate |

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for
putting a porta-potty in the transition area--genius! In past
events I have actually peed my shorts as I was getting off the bike
and trying to transition into the run because there was simply no
where else to go that didn't require me to get off my bike at some
point along the ride or sneak off into the woods on the run.
Very thoughtful move and much appreciated!
Thanks - N.B. |

Thanks for
a wonderful event. Greenfield Tri is the best!! - W.W. |

Really nice race! I
did a lot of triathlons up until about 8 years ago (ironically about
when I moved to Greenfield), this was a great first tri back.
thanks

That was a
really great race yesterday--thank you very much! I loved the
"local" feel of the event--like it was just a bunch of friends all
getting together to enjoy a beautiful, fun summer day. The support
along the course was fantastic! I did feel bad for the one older
lady working the water/gatorade station at around the 2 mile mark on
the international run course--she couldn't keep up with demand all
by herself and I think she was feeling bad about not being able to
deliver to everyone! The guy blasting music at the bottom of the
hill at the covered bridge was awesome as well as the older guy
cheering and yelling funny, encouraging comments halfway up that
hill was also fabulous. Parking was great, transition area was
great (enough space for each person's stuff, and well done
coordinating the sprint AND int'l at the same time!)
A few
constructive things:
- Don't bother spending money on plastic trophies or even the
finisher's medals, mugs, event water bottles, and more free food are
great! Maybe instead of winner's trophies consider just a free, ice
cream or beer somewhere local? ;-)
- The reusable grocery bags the men got at packet pick up are
great...but I don't know what to do with my yellow shoe bag thing
the women got--I feel bad throwing it away, but I really have no use
for it plus when I put a couple water bottles into it, the strings
ripped out so it's not all that useful for carrying more than papers
anyway.
- Sing the national anthem immediately before race start (and
consider moving the whole pre-race spiel to right before the first
wave)...at 7:15 (45 minutes before race start), people are likely to
want to be using that time to warm up rather than stand around
listening and I felt really disrespectful when I came running back
down the street only to hear the national anthem playing.
Just some
thoughts, nothing major--the whole event was really well organized.
Thank you again for making it feel so personal and see you next
year!

Thank you
for a wonderful event! Yesterday was my first triathlon and I loved
it! I'm hooked! I know this is sort of late but... I was
wondering if you had any red womens size medium t-shirts left. I got
a small but I think if I wash it it will definitely be too small. I
live locally and could arrange a pick up. Thank you again for
a safe, fun and thrilling day! - Maggie
NOTE: Christy pulled a
shirt which will be picked up at the Swim area. |

What a
wonderful race -thank you for all your hard work!! My relay
teammates had an amazing time and loved the supportive atmosphere.
One idea to ponder: I love that you give you the Bell prize to the
youngest competitor (incredible 11 year old kid - wow!); maybe you
can consider acknowledging the oldest competitor as well? My
teammate Jane, at 75, was the oldest athlete at the race - she had
never done a tri in her life, but managed to train for the swim, and
despite being *very* anxious about it in the beginning of the race,
said later that afternoon that she can't wait until next year! What
a wonderful event for active older adults!!! Be well and
thanks so much again, Until next year, - Theresa |

Thanks for
a great race!! We usually do the individual race, but this
time did the Sprint Relay with our son. I would suggest making the
Team Category cheaper so more sign up. I thought it was expensive
to still spend the full Tri amount for each team member = $255 when
you only do one leg. Making it more cost effective may pull more
new people in, and then they will eventually do individual races.
Thanks, - Kim |

The other day, a friend of mine was extolling the virtues that
living in the Greenfield area bestows upon us. He lauded the
Green Riverfest, the "Half Pint" in Gill, "Hope and Olive" in
Greenfield, to which I quicklty added, "The Greenfield
Triathlon" to the list! In fact, I adjusted our 2 week Cape Cod
vacation, so that I could stay home to compete in one of the best
triathlons I've ever done (in over 25 years of competing). So,
you can imagine my disappointment at "flatting out" at the top of
the covered bridge on my 1st loop of the sprint. As a
"sprinter", I did not carry a spare tube with me figuring that if I
did flat out, I would no longer be competitive, and would live to
race another day. However, when I finally reached Bob Sagor,
who was directing bike traffic onto Green River Rd., he informed me
that there were "bike repair" vehicles in the area, and he had
someone radio in that I was in need. I waited with him there for 30
-45 minutes and, alas, no vehicle came. Finally, I continued
walking back, and bumped into the truck 1/4 mile from the finish.
They had not received any word of my predicament, and unfortunately
they had no tubes left to help me. The whole incident would
have been fixed if I had my own tube, and I take responsibility for
that, but I did want to comment on the communication with the bike
repair truck. Since I was likely one of the first athletes to get a
flat, and did reach a radio operator in plenty of time to reasonably
finish, I wonder if there is away to avoid a similar incident
happening to someone else in the future. I missed last year's
race due to an injury and was extremely psyched for this one, so you
can imagine my frustration. My lack of carrying a repair kit
is totally on me, but as someone who's competed in your fabulous
race many times over the years, I did want to mention this.
This was the first race I've ever not finished, and I hope to never
have that happen again. Thanks to you and Bob for doing this,
and I will be back!! - Garry |

Thanks so
much for ALL that you do & rest of the committee to help promote the
Greenfield Tri. We really enjoyed ourselves yesterday. One
request for you- Can you please email the Complete International
Relay Team Results? They are not provided this year for the very
first time by Cool Running. My 3 children & their friends from the
2nd place team (Majestic Snow Leopards) are very interested in
seeing their splits. Thank you again. - Paula |

This was
my wife and my first sprint triathlon. The event was excellent.
The event was ran so smoothly that it made a nervous first timer
feel comfortable and confident I was in the right place at the right
time. Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for the Sunday AM
clinics, they Helped a lot. Thank you. - Chris |

For the
relay results on CoolRunning, the total time for each relay is
listed, but the splits for each leg are not. I was just wondering if
you knew if the separate times for each leg would be listed
sometime? Thanks, - Lisa |

Great Race, thanks to all
for the efforts. It was difficult to hear while standing in the
river waiting for the particular waves to start. Perhaps a bullhorn
or large sign with the color caps in the order they will be
starting. - Steve |

My fourth time doing the race, great job!
My only suggestion is on the infamous T-shirts - I am a female and
specifically chose LARGE so that it would be BIG - well the women's
T's run really small. I'm a size 6-8 and the large is tight. Also
I would much prefer the style T-shirt that the men received so I
wonder if you could provide an option for women to chose a man's
style T-shirt. Isn't that part of why we do the race, for the
T-shirt? Unfortunately if mine goes in the dryer, I'll never be
able to wear it. - Laura |

I thought it was a great idea to get the awards from the sprint
going as early as they did. |

Thanks for running such a great triathlon! I had two friends from
medical school come up from North Carolina and CT and they loved
it. -
