Course Description and Maps

Due to the flooding from Tropical Storm Irene on August 28, 2011, and the subsequent washout of our beloved covered bridge, the 2012 Greenfield Lightlife Triathlon routes were altered. The bridge is scheduled to be repaired in Fall 2014, and we hope to return to our original route for 2015.


International Individual & International Team Event:
Swim (.63 miles): The race start will be on the beach in front of the foot bridge. Racers will be called to enter the river in age wave groups. Swim waves will be sent off at 2 minute intervals on a buoy-marked course. We highly recommend wetsuits. When the athletes have completed the swim they will exit the water, run up the chute and to the transition area.

Bike (21.76 miles): The athletes will exit the transition area and mount their bikes in a designated "mount" zone. The athletes will ride their bikes left onto Nash’s Mill Road and at the intersection, take a left onto Leyden Road. Athletes will continue down Leyden Road, taking a right onto Barton Road, followed by another right onto Country Club Road. At the end of Country Club Road, athletes will take another right onto Silver Street, and right again back on to Leyden Road for a total of 3 loops. On the last loop, turn left back on to Nash’s Mill Road.

Run (6.51 miles): Once back at the transition area, the athletes will re-rack their bikes and head back out on their run. Athletes will head back out taking a right onto Nash’s Mill Road, bear right onto Colrain Road that changes into Plain Road, continue on Plain Road which changes into Green River Road. Continue until turn-around at Eunice Williams Road. Follow Green River Road back and bear right at the intersection of Green River Road and Plain Road continuing on Green River Road. At the end of Green River Road, turn left onto Colrain Road. Turn left onto Nash’s Mill Road toward transition area, and then turn left into the first chute to Finish Line.


Sprint Individual & Sprint Team Event:
Swim (.31 miles): The race start will be opposite the swim exit chute on the far side of river. Racers will be called to enter the river in age wave groups. Swim waves will be sent off at 3 minute intervals on a buoy-marked course. We highly recommend wetsuits. When the athletes have completed the swim they will exit the water, run up the chute and to the transition area.

Bike (14.87 miles): The athletes will exit the transition area and mount their bikes in a designated "mount" zone. The athletes will ride their bikes left onto Nash’s Mill Road and at the intersection, take a left onto Leyden Road. Athletes will continue down Leyden Road, taking a right onto Barton Road, followed by another right onto Country Club Road. At the end of Country Club Road, athletes will take another right onto Silver Street, and right again back on to Leyden Road for a total of 2 loops. On the last loop, turn left back on to Nash’s Mill Road.

Run (3.07 miles): Once back at the transition area, the athletes will re-rack their bikes and head back out on their run. Athletes will head back out taking a right onto Nash’s Mill Road, bear right onto Colrain Road that changes into Plain Road, continue on Plain Road and turn left onto Meadow Lane. At the end of Meadow Lane turn left onto Colrain Road. Turn left onto Nash’s Mill Road toward transition area, and then turn left into the first chute to Finish Line.
