Rules & Regulations

Bicyclists:
|

Helmets meeting ANSI standard must be worn at all times
and chin strap must be fastened at all times when on bicycle.

Number must be visible at all times on back and both thighs.
-
No escorts of any type allowed. No
unauthorized assistance from anyone except a race official.

Team bicyclists must cross the finish line with
timing chip and hand off to
runners. Notify timers upon completion of fourth lap.

No drafting of any type of vehicle, maintain two bike lengths behind next
biker except when passing. If unable to pass, drop back.
-
Follow and obey all traffic regulations.
Don't cross solid yellow lines.
-
No tandems, recumbents, fairings or other devices designed to reduce air
resistance (Aero bars are allowed).
-
Handlebars must be plugged.
Equipment may not be abandon on race course.

Bikes must be walked out of
and into the transition area. Please observe marked mount and dismount
areas.

No intentional or accidental
blocking or interference with forward progress of another participant.
- No unauthorized equipment including headsets/personal audio devices,
iPods.

Runners:

Race number must be visible at all times.
- Be sure to start and finish with your D-tag timing device.
- Escorts not permitted. No unauthorized assistance from anyone
except a race official.
- No intentional or accidental blocking or interference with forward
progress of another participant.
- No unauthorized equipment including headsets/personal audio devices,
iPods.

Swimmers:

Number must be written on both shoulders.
- Team swimmers must hand team timing chip
to bicyclist in the transition area.
- A participant may stand on the bottom or rest by holding an inanimate
object such as a buoy, boat, rope or floating object. Excluding the
bottom (yes, you may walk), a participant shall not use any
inanimate object to gain forward progress. A violation of this section
shall result in a variable time penalty, unless the Head Referee in
his/her sole discretion determines that (i) the violation was
substantial and resulted in an unfair time advantage, or (ii) the
violation constituted endangerment under Section 3.4(1).
- Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet
suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and
including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water
temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees
Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own
discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit
within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or
awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water
temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit
policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes
Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for
elite/pros at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3000 meters and
71.6 degrees for distances of 3000 meters or greater.
Effective January 1, 2013, any swimmer
wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5
millimeters shall be disqualified.
- Swimmers must start with their designated wave or group. Starting in
an earlier group will result in a disqualification.
- No artificial propulsion devices including fins, gloves, etc.

ChronoTrack D-Tag disposable timing device:

You will
receive detailed instructions for using your ChronoTrack D-Tag disposable timing
device in your packet at registration.
-
You must wear your D-tag disposable timing strip & cross over the mats at the finish of each
segment of the event, to receive a time.
- Each event and all transition times are recorded.
- At the end of the event you do not need to return your D-tag
strip. You can remove and dispose of it.
